For the most part, and certainly depending on which country you live in, finding a SIBO doctor is not, as you might imagine, particularly easy.
There are several ways of going about this and one of the most effective is to contact a laboratory which provides a test for SIBO. Most of them have information of doctors or naturopaths who have a direct interest in the condition and who order the test from the labs. In another article I provided a link to a laboratory which gives a map of all clinicians throughout the US and which also can be found here http://phcapsule.com/referral/.
Another way is to contact a manufacturer of the breath-testing equipment. One such manufacturer is Quin Tron and this is the link to their website, http://www.breathtests.com/.
Patients do now have the opportunity to contact some laboratories, such as Quin Tron, directly and ask for the details of clinicians who send samples to them for SIBO analysis. However this does not assist in providing you with the medical interpretation, diagnostics and advice that you will need from a doctor who specializes in SIBO.
Another way to search down a SIBO doctor is to find a list of naturopaths in your state or country. For example in Australia there is this site http://tinyurl.com/odlhcbf which gives a list of all practicing naturopathic physicians, and in the US, there is the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians website http://www.naturopathic.org/ This site has a built in search facility for you to track down a suitable doctor near you. A naturopath is more likely to have a direct interest in SIBO than a conventional doctor, however this does not mean that all clinicians will be dismissive of the condition.
Although it is not particularly easy to find a doctor specializing in SIBO, it’s not impossible, and the number of clinicians now discovering a broad range of illnesses are connected to bacterial overgrowth gets larger every day!
